Wholesale Aluminum Profiles for Glass Showers FAQ
How do I choose a channel for my glass thickness?
Compare the profile section with the glass and fitting arrangement. Check the internal width and depth, wall thickness, required insert or gasket, length and mounting detail. Glass thickness alone does not confirm channel fit. Send the profile drawing and intended glass specification for review.
Can LOIRE review a custom profile drawing?
Yes. Send the section drawing, dimensions, tolerances, length, finish requirements and expected quantity for a custom profile review. LOIRE can discuss feasibility and sample requirements. Confirm the final specification and any development needs before ordering; a requested profile shape is not automatically a stock item.
Are all glass U channels interchangeable?
No. Compare the complete section and installation detail, including internal dimensions, inserts, fixing method and glass clearance. Two channels with a similar appearance may fit differently. Use the model drawing to confirm the match and ask for a sample when checking an existing profile.
Which finishes can be requested for an aluminum profile?
The L-2960 aluminum profile is available in a range of finishes, including brushed bronze, brushed nickel, polished chrome, matte black, satin brass and other options. Custom finishes may also be available upon request. Please contact LOIRE to confirm the options for your selected profile. When requesting a finish, provide your desired color, surface appearance and any reference sample or color code. We recommend approving a finish sample before confirming production requirements.
Can aluminum profiles be cut to the required length?
Confirm whether the selected profile can be cut and how its end details affect the finished length. Account for joints, end caps and any factory-made fixing points. Ask LOIRE to review the required length and cutting requirements before making changes, including the finish needed on any exposed ends.
Do all aluminum channels need silicone to hold the glass?
No single method applies to every channel design. Some systems use specified gaskets or clamping parts, while others use a sealant-based glazing method. Follow the selected model’s instructions for holding the glass and sealing joints. Do not replace specified components with silicone without confirmation from the supplier.
Can an aluminum profile compensate for an out-of-plumb wall?
Only if the selected profile system has a stated adjustment range. Send the measured wall variation and enclosure drawing to LOIRE. Confirm the permitted range and fixing method before finalizing the glass dimensions. A wider channel does not automatically provide more wall adjustment.
Will an aluminum profile alone prevent shower leaks?
Not by itself. Water control depends on the full enclosure, including the glass seals, profile joints, wall connection and shower base detail. Confirm where sealant is required and whether the selected system has drainage openings. Follow the installation and sealing details for that system.
Do I still need a support bar when using an aluminum channel?
That depends on the panel and the complete fixing layout. A channel does not automatically remove the need for additional bracing. Review the panel width, height, glass thickness, mounting surfaces and any attached door. Ask LOIRE to review the channel and support components together before finalizing the layout.
Are gaskets, end caps and fixings included with an aluminum profile?
Confirm the supply list for the selected product code and quotation. Ask which gaskets, inserts, end caps, connectors and fixing parts are included, where applicable. Identify any items that need separate ordering. A profile photo or product name alone does not define a complete installation kit.
