Wholesale Shower Door Hinges for Frameless Glass FAQs
1. How do I choose shower door hinges for my glass door?
Choose the mounting layout first. Then check the selected hinge model against the glass thickness, door width, door weight and required hinge arrangement. Review the glass cutout and gasket specification as well. Send LOIRE the required model and surface-treatment specifications, along with project requirements, before approving the order.
2. Can I choose a hinge by glass thickness alone?
No. Glass thickness is only one part of hinge selection. The door width, weight, mounting layout and approved hinge arrangement also matter. Compare all of these details with the model specification. A hinge that accepts the glass thickness may still be unsuitable for the complete door design.
3. Are shower door hinge gaskets interchangeable?
Do not assume hinge gaskets are interchangeable. Their shape, thickness and fixing arrangement must match the hinge and glass specifications. For a replacement review, provide the hinge model, glass thickness and clear photos of the existing gasket. Confirm the approved replacement before removing or refitting the door.
4. Can LOIRE hinges replace another brand’s hinges?
Replacement fit needs a model review. Compare the glass cutout, mounting holes, glass thickness, door limits and closing function. A similar appearance does not confirm compatibility. Send the existing model details and drawings to LOIRE so the technical team can assess the request before you order.
5. Are spring hinges and hydraulic hinges the same?
No. Spring hinges and hydraulic hinges use different mechanisms.
Spring hinges use a spring mechanism to provide the force needed to close the shower door. They are simple and reliable, but the closing action is generally less controlled.
Hydraulic hinges use hydraulic damping to control the door’s closing movement, providing a smoother and more controlled closing action. Depending on the design, the closing speed may also be adjustable.
When choosing between them, consider the shower door’s glass thickness, door width, weight, required hinge arrangement, and desired closing performance.
6. What should I send for an OEM shower hinge quotation?
Send the hinge or door drawing, glass thickness, mounting layout, requested finish and order quantity. Include any branding, packaging or sample requirements. LOIRE can review the specification and discuss a suitable development process. Final model details, minimum order quantity and lead time should be confirmed in the quotation.
7. What does adjustable mean for this shower hinge?
Adjustable can refer to a particular setting or position on a hinge. Confirm what the selected model allows you to adjust, its permitted range and the required procedure. Use the model drawing and instructions to check whether that function meets your door layout before ordering.
8. Can hinge adjustment correct every door alignment problem?
No. Adjustment is limited by the hinge design. Review the glass dimensions, cutout, mounting surfaces, gaps and support conditions before deciding that adjustment is the solution. For an existing door, send the hinge model and photos for technical review and follow the approved installation instructions.
9. Can I add a third hinge to increase the door capacity?
Yes, in many cases, adding a third hinge of the same model can increase the door’s overall load capacity and provide better support, especially for wider or heavier glass doors.
However, the load capacity does not simply increase in direct proportion to the number of hinges. The final capacity depends on the hinge model, glass thickness, door width and height, door weight, hinge arrangement, and installation conditions.
For heavier or larger shower doors, we recommend confirming the required hinge configuration with our technical team before installation.
10. What evidence should I review for a heavy-duty hinge?
Review the model drawing, rated door limits, approved hinge arrangement and relevant test information. Check which model, material and finish each document covers. Test results should be read with their conditions and scope. Ask for a sample when you need to assess fit, appearance and operation for your project.
